The third annual Meat & Poultry Processing Awards took place last year and we scooped a prestigious award – Export Initiative of the Year. Here’s what the Meat Trade Journal (13 April 2012 issue) had to say:
“…The company managed to weather the 10-year purgatory of the export ban and has since worked hard to rebuild its export operations with fantastic success.
The company now exports English Beef to 12 EU and third-country markets, and it’s Ashdale brand of premium beef, matured on the bone, is highly regarded across those sectors. It also recently won the ‘best beef in the world’ award in a wide-ranging test held in Birmingham, and features widely on menus in some of the top restaurants in Europe.
Bedlington said: “Alec Jarrett is a great example of how, despite tough conditions, a company can bounce back and not only succeed on the export market but also excel. They are a worthy winner of this award.”
